Ethiopia has a long history of state formation and political system that by and large revolved around the monarchy and the church until recently. However, transition of power from one regime to another regime has never been peaceful. In the last 400 years, power was up for grab by whoever seems to master the art of war with very little regards to justice or transformation of the lives of the citizens. FORTUNE: The inflationary pressure in the economy developed progressively over the past five years, your party argued in the statement. General inflation has consistently increased since 2004/05, data from the Central Statistics Agency (CSA) showed. Which of the government’s policies have led to the inflationary pressure?
MUSHE: Our recently issued statement addresses the current situation and has an emergency element to it. We did not go into details.
Before talking about inflation, economic growth, or development, we need to talk about people’s freedom. Not only about political freedom, but also their economic freedom enshrined in the Constitution.

The African Liberal Network president Mr Lamina Ba has sent a congratulation message to Mr Mushe and EDP members on their recently held and successful National Party conference.
Since the former President of EDP, Mr Lidetu’s, meeting in London last year with officials from African Liberal Network and Liberal International, Mr Ba have been kept informed of the forthcoming EDP Conference through his office in London.

Lidetu Ayelew, president of the Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP), handed over his role to secretary general of the party, Mushe Semu on the fifth general assembly of the party held Sunday, March 20.
The decision was made according to the bylaws of the party, which place a four-year, two-term limit to the presidential position, as Mushe disclosed.
Lidetu came to the position after former party president Dr. Admassu Gebeyehu completed his two terms as party leader four years ago. A vote by members of the party had instated Lidetu to the position.

Ato Lidetu Ayalew, President of EDP, met senior Liberal International and African Liberal Network officials in London. The meeting took place, after Ato Lidetu accepted an invitation following Ethiopian Democratic Party (EDP) admission into Liberal International affiliated, African Liberal Network, earlier last week.
